      Depends on how big the venue is. You'll have to go into the FOH system, no matter how much artillery you pack onstage, for anything larger than a 250-person club (assuming 1 human per sq. ft., which is basically "get your ponytail out of my drink, you dam hippie!").

      Bass through stage amps without sound reinforcement sounds mushy and boomy to the crowd, hence the term "reinforcement".

      Tech 21 has a bunch of "character" pedals, which will hand off clones of various amps to the mixer. The build quality seems to be up to snuff.

        I have their little Ampeg-a-like pedal. It's pretty simple and straight-ahead, but I like it.
