  • Saturday night cab remodeling.

I decided to make my Carvin 2x12 combo cabinet into a closed back cab.......and, a closed front cab.

The back was done with a piece of 1/2" ply, painted flat black and hit with polyurethane for a little scratch protection. I ordered a jack and jack plate from mojo tone, and installed those. I wanted something a little different for the front. I have some diamond plate scraps I was thinking of using, but I decided to go with a piece of 3/4" maple flooring. I may change it out to a piece of Brazillian cherry though. Thinking the darker wood might look better. Or maybe some hickory with nice grain to it. The wood was fastened on the sides and top with small "L" brackets, screwed on the inside.

I got this done pretty late, so I wasn't able to open it up, just checked it quick, but it'll be pushing air with the first cup of coffee in the morning.

I think it was an sx. I bought it off Craigslist a couple weeks ago.

Looks nice but would look better if you finished it off with gator hide. I know you have some.

I do, but I'll have to wait for it to come back from the taxidermist.

Looks good but I'd make another panel for the recess and cover it so it sits flush with the front.

I was trying to come up with a way for that to work. The top of the cab angles back a little near the sides. So I would see the top edge of something flush to the front....If that makes sense. If I covered whatever was there with black tolex, it might not be so unsightly.
