    Re: Plectrum choices?

Mostly use an Ultex .73mm on bass. Another good one, surprisingly, I absolutely hated on guitar: Dunlop "Big Stubby" 1.0mm.

Anything in extra heavy ala Gary Moore. Currently using the clear yellow Dunlop's I saw Gary use in one of his videos (Tribute to Phil Lynott or the Montreux Concert performances).

For bass, I use an old Dunlop that is quite thick with rounded edges, something like the one in this picture. I use it because the round edge sounds like a finger pluck but being a pick is consistent in attack (as opposed to my bare hands which are not so skilled on bass).

Same here, I like a pick that's thin, with enough give for strummifng, but still stiff enough for single note picking. I used .71mm Gator Grips for years, but they wear out really fast and leave pink dust all over my guitar.

Edit: Forgot this was The Bassment, for bass usually use Dulop Gator or Tortex 1mm or 1.14mm whatever I have on hand in my random pick baggie

My go-to bass pick for years has been the Dunlop JazzTone 207. It sounds smoother than any other I've tried. It also makes a dandy mandolin pick, and will tame a bright guitar quite nicely. The 205 is nice for the same material in a jazz iii shape.

For guitar, I like these versions of the jazz iii best at the moment.

I always been a Fender Medium kinda guy. Then a few years back I visited this cool little shop that carried Charvel Guitar and dude handed me one of these.http://www.sweetwater.com/store/deta...FQRehgodL5EEuw.
The Herco Picks are awesome. Not to grippy but has some to it where it's amazingly comfortable. Where have these been all my life?
I also like the Fender Nylon, http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/098-6351-800. They have a wonder feel to them. I really like them almost as much as the Herco's.

For many years I have been using Jazz III's, but I recently switched to Dunlop Tortex .88's (green). I forgot how much I liked the Tortex for playing chords and it sounds a little brighter overall. Not to mention they don't get lost nearly as easily...

Try the Tortex Jazz III's. They were my go to for a while before I decided that the Ultex Jazz III 2.0mm was just better for my needs.
