Is it possible to "tastefully" add weight relief holes to a guitar?

by holes, are you talking all the way through the body? or were you thinking more like drilling/routing out some wood to make it lighter?Teenagers can't sing the Blues. They ain't fixin' to die yet. Adults sing the Blues. In Blues, "adulthood" means being old enough to get the electric chair if you shoot a man in Memphis.

Getting the maple cap off is going to be the the hard part. I read some Gibson specs about the weight relief thing a long time ago. I can't recall the measurements, but according to them, the holes have no effect on tone as long as they are are not too close to the bridge and tailpiece. I personally don't believe that, but that's just my opinion, which ain't worth a whole lot. Gibson wasn't looking for better sounding guitars, they were looking for a way to lighten guitars made with heavy, inferior-grade, mineral-laden mahogany.
