this is a model Fender Precision Bass Special or Fender Deluxe Active P Bass Special ?

Are you sure you have the right link? I remember in the early 80s there was a Precision Bass Special. That was a really cool bass.

Are you sure you have the right link? I remember in the early 80s there was a Precision Bass Special. That was a really cool bass.

Yeah, the ones without the pickguard. Those were way cooler than standard P-basses. The Duff McKagan signature is based on those models. Think most of them were MIJ, though I could be wrong.

EDIT: Oopps, nope, those were apparently the Jazz Specials. Nvm then.

This is a MIM model but I do not know if it's a Deluxe. The fendera page is run as a Delux model

I own one of the MIJ Jazz Bass Specials, which I bought off the rack brand new.

It had some merits, but was nowhere near the quality of a standard P or J in terms of the electronics. I thought the 500K TBX switch was utterly useless.

I rebuilt mine.
