I'm taking a guitar apart for a prolonged amount of time and was wondering if there are any issues with leaving the neck without tension on it.

I have had necks hanging on my wall for years. Just back the truss rod off and you will be fine.-Chris

i was talking about taking the neck off for long periods. as long as the truss rod is loose it should be fine but ive known people that havent and they didnt have issues either. better safe than sorry though

Another thing, if you have a bi-flex rod, don't over do the loosening, because then you will start adding back bow. Just let it sit when it is in a neutral position. But most guitars only have a one way truss rod.You will never understand How it feels to live your life With no meaning or control And with nowhere left to go You are amazed that they exist And they burn so bright
Whilst you can only wonder why

In which case the truss would be one way. So you have nothing to worry about. You will never understand How it feels to live your life With no meaning or control And with nowhere left to go You are amazed that they exist And they burn so bright
