  • Broke a 59 Neck doing a magnet swap - what now?

    Hi guys,

I have a 59 neck in a super strat guitar. Was reversing the polarity of the magnet, and when I pushed the magnet from one end, it pushed out too fast. My fears that I damaged the pickup were confirmed when I hooked it up and got no sound from it.

What now? Is it worth trying to fix?

What do I start looking for?

    Thanks.

carefully and slowly pull the pup apart so you can see the coils. again, carefully and slowly. there are two wires coming out of each coil, find those and test with a meter to see if the coils are good

You probably broke the connection between coils. Luckily, that is easy to fix (if your eyes are good, as well as your soldering).

Yep, those little wires are very easily broken. But I think it's likely that your coils are still intact and the pickup should be repairable.
