  • Splawn Owners Thread

Since we were talking about this in the pedal forum, I figured that it was time to make this happen. Here is my 2005 Splawn ProMod. It’s been converted to EL34s, which basically makes it a QuickRod at this point. Love this amp. Everything I wanted a Marshallesq amp to be.

Splawns aren't really a thing on this side of the pond. Damn, you Yankees get all the fun stuff.
They're mostly hot-rodded Marshalls, right? Are they like Friedmans?

Yes, they are hot rodded Marshall-like.
But they really have a voice all their own.

They are similar to Friedman amps in that they are hot rod Marshall style amps. The biggest difference is that you can get a fully loaded Splawn for half the price of a Friedman.

I've always wanted one of these. The frigging midrange that these things have. WOW.

Did you see them live or a YouTube clip?
If it was YouTube, post it here...I’d love to check it out.

Believe me when I say that some of the most amazing music in history was made on equipment that's not as good as what you own right now.

Nice timing on this... I just saw Oath of Cruelty on Saturday, and one of their guitarists was using a Pro Stock. His tone was absolutely unbelievable, awesome midrange growl that was both menacing and had incredible clarity.

I really don't need another amp, but if I stumbled into a couple thousand dollars, it'd be damn hard for me to not spend it on a Splawn.

I've got a Fully Loaded 50 Watt QR and a Fully Loaded 50 Watt Nitro. The Mid Cut/Boost and the Old/New Voicing switches make the amps incredibly versatile. FWIW, if you cut the mids and use the new voicing in 3rd Gear OD-2 on the QR, you are basically playing a Nitro. I realistically do not need the Nitro, but it does have a slightly different thing going on. I would put the build quality and sound of Splawn up against any 'boutique' amp any day. Not to saym they will blow everybody's skirt up, but they are really well made and sound incredible.

I have been missing my splawn a lot lately. I still kick myself for getting rid of it one day I will own another.
