  • Favorite bass tone

Just beastly vintage low and low mids. With some pick detail on top. Listen with headphones. And don't miss the funk section at 6:30.

You will never understand How it feels to live your life With no meaning or control And with nowhere left to go You are amazed that they exist And they burn so bright

Besides this being an absolute beast of a song to play, the bass is massive here.

John Wetton was amazing. I loved his P bass through a HiWatt tone.

This is one of my favorite bass players and bands. P-bass with Rotosounds through some kind of Yamaha amp, apparently.

I love the way the bass on this song alternates between a phasey delay and completely dry. The contrast makes both sections pop more.

Yes, John Wetton, who never got enough credit for his absolutely crushing bass tone. That's the way a great P-Bass should sound to me.

Which is why many people play electric guitars but very very few of them are actually musicians.
