  • Removing side mags from Invader?

Seems like a dumb question but I can’t find an answer. How does removing the flanking magnets and leaving the double thick ceramic by itself change the sound of an Invader bridge?

Does it sound the same more or less but just a little less output? How much? Does it lose or gain anywhere in the EQ?

I would guess (sheepishly) that you’d be lowering the inductance but I have no idea by how much and would possibly gain some high end and lose a small amount of output but has anyone tried it?

Pull the magnets and find out. Please share the results.

Ordered some spacers and some other things I needed anyway from Mojotone today so it’ll be a little bit.

I’m gonna guess it’ll sound like a Distortion with less treble and more mids/bass.

The sound will probably be similar but less output.

Aaaand now I’ve ordered double thick A8 and A5 mags and am gonna end up down the rabbit hole.

I’m also gonna try putting the flanker mags from the Invader into a Distortion and a 15.4k ohm Hunter. And also try these 2 with just double thick alnicos.

I should spend more time playing and learning than tone chasing.
