Default SUPER RARE HERITAGE MARK SLAUGHTER FIND

So I was walking in to the Kalamazoo GC last week. My first stop is always the high end used wall.

I looked up and I couldn't believe my eyes!!!

It was a silver hologram sparkle Heritage Mark Slaughter "ROCK" model!!!!

My first thought was..."it has to be a refin!" I had them pull it down and I looked inside the control cavity...nope....not a refin!!! The Heritage label simply said....MARK SLAUGHTER, and the serial #

I put it back on the wall and went home. I got on my laptop and started searching for pics of Mark and his guitars and found these.....

I called GC and immediately put it on layaway!!! (unfortunately its on police hold until December 14th)

I reached out to Mark recently, asking him if in fact this was his guitar. He replied back to me yesterday. He said it was his personal guitar. We haven't gotten into and details yet on the whole history of the guitar....he is currently on tour, so he is probably busy.

I have ordered some new parts for it to bring it back to factory original....black tuners, black bridge/tailpiece. The pickups and electronics appear to be original. I even ordered a custom replica of the original Mark Slaughter truss rod cover that came on it from the factory .

Mark played my club in the 90's and I got to hang out with him a bit. He is a very cool guy. The really funny thing about him is he can do imitations of almost any cartoon character voice. Pretty funny when you are a couple of beers deep. Very cool guitar and a nice find.

The crooked tuners would drive me nuts.

I don't remember that either. Interesting design, though...very unique.

Really cool! Never seen that design before. I'm a bit surprised actually, as I've followed Slaughter with half an eye.

Isn't he doing a fair bit of voice acting these days?

Not sure but it would make sense. He had me calling out various cartoon characters and was nailing the voices. I even tried some obscure Hanna- Barbera stuff and he was nailing it.

So, did he sell it to guitar center or how did it end up there?

He said his ex-wife sold it years ago but how it ended up back in Kalamazoo is still a mystery

Looks like it originally had a Schaller bridge/tailpiece:

You mean to tell me as 80's looking as that guitar is there's no Floyd? Seriously though, that guitar is sweet.
