Holy cow! That is amazing! I love the backplates with NO SCREWS!
What would be the tonal properties of blackwood?

Blackwood is a close relative of Koa, so the tone is very similar to that, almost identical..

          ermmmm......

          subjective chat here

its a little darker in tone than Maple, but not as dark as mahogany.
nice clarity in the mids and tops

similar to Brazilian Rosewood in tap tone, has those nice glassy notes.,

which is always a good thing... it rings when you tap it, unlike either maple or mahogany. they dont ring, they have their own voice,

          so yeah...

          sort of kinda like that..

Another winner! Because, like he has ever made something less than awesome...I dig the low-key wood-toneness of this in semi-hollow.

That inlay work is incredible. Lots of people seem to have trouble with that.

I'd have to both up my chops and play nothing but classy songs on that.

I have trouble inlaying blocks cleanly.....I can't imagine what goes into a once-off like that kooka.

Best of luck getting over your loss. I have been in your exact same position this year and my work output suffered for it tremendously.

Might I ask: how (with what) do you finish your guitars? Nitro? Polyurethane?
