Re: Should I switch my Fralins from HHx to HSS?

Do the double thick mags install the same as any other mag swap?
Any spacing issues between the bobbins and mounting plate?

It came with 2 spacers and I added 2 more, 2 for each side, and it worked great. Fralin also didn't have the hookup leads occupying one of the sides between the baseplate and bobbin so it was pretty easy to slide the spacers and mag in and out. With Duncan you have to get that 4 conductor lead out of the way.

So I would assume that on a guitar with a shallow rout the increased pickup thickness may be an issue?

I spent about 3 1/2 hours assembling everything and am done at 2:45am. Fralin is a beast winder!! I'll post some clips tomorrow. I put a double thick A2 in the 8k/42 bridge and the 9 and 10k/43 neck and middle have A6s. They balance great.

I like your taste in guitars sir. Nice and simple, functional and comfortable. It's the sound that matters. Love it.

Yes, the mag does make the bottom of the pickup go lower if the top is set at the same height.
