  • Odd behaviour in coil-split pickup

    Hi all,
I have just installed a push-pull tone pot to have coil splitting in the bridge humbucker of my Squier Tele.
If I tap with a screwdriver on each pickup blade (it has two blades rather than two rows of poles) with splitting engaged (=pot pulled up) I can hear a strong sound from the 'neck' (proximal) blade but also a weaker sound from the 'bridge' (distal) blade. Is this ok? Shouldn't one blade be totally silent in the coil-split configuration?
I am afraid there is some wiring issue or bad contact due to the extremely little room inside the control cavity and to the cheap import pickup selector.
BTW, tapping on each blade with the pot pushed down gives equal sound from each of 'em.

You will hear some sympathetic output, especially in powerful humbuckers. It isn't totally 100% silent.

What you describe is totally normal.

Good then! I thought the 'inactive' blade should have been totally silent.
        Thank you guys.
