  • I'm about to attack the Custom to my Strat pickguard

I have a question for you guys. I'm trying to attach my Custom to my Fat Strat pickguard. It's not an easy task if you try to use the spring. It's hard to compress the spring and line up the screw with the hole and get the whole thing going.

I was wondering if you guys recommend not even using the spring?

I got them both going. Had to acquire a bit of technique.

I've threaded a twist tie into the spring and used it to hold the spring compressed while I threaded the screw. Then un twist it and fish it out.

I use small alligator clips. Push the spring down so threads are showing, attached the alligator clip with enough thread to get it going through the pickup hole and then remove it when secure. Finish it from there. That's all it takes. Just don't let go of the spring before attaching the alligator clip.

Yeah, it can be a bit tricky.
I like Demanic's suggestion. I've never tried it, but I will.
