  • Does anyone here know what vox ac30 stands for?

I get that the 30 is the wattage, but does anyone know where the "ac" comes from? Googled it, can't seem to find the answer.

the ac30 is actually about 36w so i dont know where the ac comes from, but the ac15 preceded the 30

Being 1950’s British, it’s probably Apparatus Contraption #30.

Actually to answer your question, Vox originally made portable Battery powered organs with on board speaker/amps

So I think AC is literally the designation that this new series Vox amp requires AC current from a wall.

Always Crapping-out? My understanding is that the reliability on originals was pretty poor. :P

I have always assumed it meant AC current – as in, you plug it in to the wall.

I think you all are reading too much into this. I bet if you emailed Vox, they wouldn't have a clue.

                  But still, an interesting question.

                    I'll take that bet.
