  • Alvin Lee - I want to change the World.

This is a pretty smooth distortion for 1971. Anyone know what he's using?

On a side note . . . is that some kind of phaser/flanger on his voice?

Seems like a really loud Marshall and a neck Humbucker.

Is that fuzz? Ten Years After has always been one of my favorites. And, I've been thinking lately "I think I need me some fuzz" and now I'm being asked to play the leads on this tune. So, is it Fuzz? And if so, any particular flavor to co er it?
    Oh no.....

    Oh Yeah!

Lord have mercy! 16 twelve-inchers? That would do it.

But . . . is that what he did in the studio?

For the era, and phase/flanging would be true tape flanging.

It seems like the tone could be achieved with a fuzz as well.

In his cover story interview in Guitar Player magazine back in the early seventies he said he used 50 watt Marshalls.

Sounds like the “woman tone.” Use your neck pickup and turn your tone all the way off.

I'll have to play with that. Great song/tone that stays current in my playlist. Not much from 50-ish years ago does.
