  • Gibson Hardware History (metal parts)

i found a lot of info on Les Pauls, how the Bridge was Aluminium and steels studs,
zink ABR with brass saddles and steel or brass posts/wheels.

But i am actually interested in the SG part from around 1964 to around 1971.

Does anybody know when what part changed or where i can find that info.

Various SG's about with completely different bridges.

But the zamak type abr didn't really change at all until it was phased out in 75

Well for some time they came with nylon saddles...
but yeah the ABR itself never really changed.

been on that site once or twice, but completely forgot about it.
now my search results won't be full of Les Pauls topics.
"SG" is not the best search term by the way. mostly get's ignored...

So zamac/zink ABR Bridge with brass or nylon saddles. All agree on that.

brass thumbwheels, also seems to be the narrative.

some claim brass posts, although sometimes i found a steel post claim.
Manufactures like Faber or sellers like crazy parts claim also steel posts?
Reports of bending posts on vintage Gibson make brass posts more likely

            does anybody know for sure?
