  • NSD: Emi Redcoat Man-O-War

Got a new speaker for my 1x12 Egnater Tweaker cab. There wasn't anything wrong with the stock Celestion Elite 50 except I needed it to be an 8 ohm cab instead of a 16 ohm to run with my Bassbreaker 15 combo.
    '
Did a bit of research and the Manowar seemed to check all the boxes for me in turns of sonics. Got lucky and found a demo deal on Sweetwater which saved a few bucks and included free shipping! Popped it in, fired it up and it sounds fantastic, seems like a great match with the Greenback in the 'Breaker.

Handles enough power to run with my Dual Terror or my 50wt EVH in a pinch

Since you and I both have Tweaker 1/12 cabs and are swapping speakers maybe we should compare notes. Mine came with a G12 heritage 30 and so far I have run a WGS Retro 30 and just dropped a ET 90 in it a couple days ago to replace a early 90's G 12 75. The cab itself is not spectacular being smaller and pretty boxie sounding compared to my open back Blackstar 1/12. Best tones so far for me with mine have been with the WGS speakers.

I have the 112X cab, it is 1/3 open back. Came with the Egnater/Celestion Elite 50, can't say I thought it sounded boxy. If it was 8 ohm I would've kept it.

Sounds like the same cab I have has a mesh panel in the center between the 2 back plates. Sounds boxie and small compared to the Blackstar 1/12 cab I have side by side. It's not a bad cab just not as good as the Blackstar. Been swapping some speakers around trying to find the best combo for this cab. The H 30 anniversary was to bright plus at only 30 watts was going to get clobbered with the heads I was running. The WGS Retro was nice it was big fat and smooth but lost some thing on the clean side. The old 75 was nice clean but lacked the bottom punch I was looking for. The WGS ET 90 so far looks like the one that will stay has a fat bottom and big tone for the crunches but still has some nice chime on top and good definition clean.
I run the Tweaker cab at my Church in the back room miced and right now am pushing it with my PRS MT 15.
This was the MT 15 and the WGS Retro 30 with a SM 57 right off the grill.

Nice speaker choice. I really liked the Man O War that I played. Sounds great with some gain.
