I wonder if these pedals would get any kind of notice at all if they weren't named so creatively.

Butthole Burner. Pure unadulterated marketing gold.

The first mistake lots of people make when it comes to Steel Panther at first glance is taking them seriously.

The second mistake they make at second glance is not taking them seriously.

Steel Panther isn't a band per se, it's a brand. A brand that can play 80s tunes.

They are geniuses who exhibit a KISS-esque level of marketing awareness.

I think their market genius applies more to businesses than fans. I think they have scammed a lot of advertising dollars out companies. Way more than gig money, and way way more than recording dollars. I'd argue they could not fill as many bars as often as my band does. It takes a special kind of person to appreciate/not vomit at their over-the-topness, which in my opinion ion, jumped the shark. Most people just want to hear actual 80's covers.

Not saying they can't play. Hell yes they can. Just anyone with an IQ above 90 and an age over 30 can't take them for more than 10 minutes...more than once every couple of years. They peaked at death to all but metal.

FWIW, the pedal sounds pretty good as a distortion into a clean amp, still won't buy one for the same reason I won't use Friedman amps.

As far as SP's fanbase, sure, let us know next time Mr. Dallas gets back from a European stadium tour, doesn't matter if they are festivals, they don't ask just anyone to play, you have to bring a crowd. And yes, I still agree with you on their schtick being beyond juvenile, but apparently there are a lot of people that eat it up and spend money to do so, probably should do some research on them.

i find it amusing that acebob has such strong negative opinions on a professional band doing something not far from what his band does but at a international level with crazy chops and sweet endorsements

The next logical step for Steel Panther product selection and placement would be sex lube (with a clever, puerile name, of course).

    Logically speaking...

Nope. Not even close. We are a straight up Hair Tribute band. They are a parody, and have become a parody of themselves. Somewhere there is a band worth hearing whose spot they have taken.

Remember - Nickelback is an international band too....
