  • ObsidianWire 7 Way Strat Wiring

I was thinking of upgrading the electrics in my Stratocaster, and I've come across this solderless kit from ObsidianWire for a 7 Way (Seven Sound) Strat wiring. My question is that with SD 4 conductor wire leads, how would I make them compatible with the OW kit.

Here's the like to the OW Kit: https://obsidianwire.com/custom-7-wa...ilmour-switch/

And I was thinking of putting in the "Everything Axe" set of SD pickups.

    TIA

    Welcome to the forum!

Those are cool (and expensive!) wiring harnesses. On the Everything Axe set, the pickups have 5 total wires, which are red, white, black, green & bare. Green & bare go to the ground port on the harness, black goes to hot. Red & white are combined together and taped off.

Cool & Thanks - I was looking at a premium wiring kit (I have a Squier) and it was about $60 + the push/pull pot + the better soldering iron...So, this comes wou about the same and would facilitate swapping out pickups "at will".

So, the Red & White conductors are for split pole, out of phase type configurations?

P.S. Great Music Site - Thanks!

Yes, red & white is where the 2 coils are connected.
