  • Coil connection

    Hi!
Standard wiring is: black-hot, green - ground, white and red - coil connection.
What would happen if: black-hot, red - ground, green and white -coil connection?

    Re: Coil connection

With the first two you will lose humbucking.
The third would be a reversed phase, I believe.

      Re: Coil connection

This graph also applies to the 2 coils of a hum. However the 2 coils can't have the same polarity. Therefor, referring the the relationship of the hum to itself, the 1st 2 are same winding direction, opposite polarity - out of phase and not hum cancelling. The last is rwrp - in phase and hum cancelling. If you put 2 finishes or starts together as the series connection it will be rwrp with itself in phase hum cancelling. If you put a start and finish together as the series connection, it will be same winding direction opposite polarity, oop and not hum cancelling.
