I'd much rather it in gloss.

Fender did a satin metallic red awhile back that I really liked.

Pantone book is full of colors not found on guitars. Supercar culture also has colors that aren't like on any guitar today.

Which makes no sense. It's got to be easier to paint a guitar.

But who pays 5 grand or more for a paint upgrade on a guitar? Economics.

Who's stupid enough to charge that much?
              I sense a market opening.

Ok, compare comparable price points between an automobile and a guitar.

                    Re: Fender Colors!

Pantone is a book of paint MIXES, not colors. We already know what basic colors are in the spectrum of light. Add your choice of luster, pearls, metallics, etc. Any paint seller will be happy to custom mix any tint you want, and add whatever modifier you want. THAT'S what we're talking about. So, no - not new colors, new mixes. Any suggestion beyond that is kidding yourself.

I have a sparkle blue 2014 Chrysler that would look most excellent on a metal guitar of some sort. It's actually a bit flashy for my taste.

Btw, not that it matters but the blue '58 Cadillac in the OP is actually a 1957.

Well, at some point, Fender decided to use pearl and metalflake finishes, most likely from car paints. But classic colors seem to be what is on the market today. If you spray cars, it might be a great side business to also spray guitars. This way, paint gets used. But man, we are stuck on sunbursts and black these days.

I just wish they did some satin finishes.

Satin is just the luster and polishing of the final coat, isn’t it? A Warmoth they have every color in gloss or satin. I bet these guys would do it too.
                            Oh no.....

It can be a satin vs gloss clear coat or I believe their are additives that can be used in the color coat to flatten the sheen (as is used in Latex and enamels)

I find I like satin better, too...especially after playing outside in Florida...you stick to every gloss finish.
