      The 2 I use:
a pair of Echoplex Digital Pros, which are the absolute king of loopers, and a close 2nd for improvisations, the Ditto X4.

The tried an true red label Boss? It comes in two button and a four or five button. Had the two button years back and couldn't complain at all. Little more pricey than the EH and TC I believe.

The Boss one isn't bad for practice, and if you use it to compose using traditional song structures. It tends to lock looping to a grid, which many like, but isn't my thing. It is a great pedal for soloing practice, though.

Jam-man Express. Gets me through. I'd like to add a Ditto looper to it. Dittos go for $60 all day on eBay.

              Re: Looper's...

The only thing about the Ditto is that when clearing a loop, you hear it for about 2 seconds of the loop before it realizes it has to erase it. The Jamman Express doesn't do this, which is why I got it.

I'm not using live, so not an issue - but yes.

I use the Boss RC20XL. Like Mincer said, it's probably not the best thing if you're doing heavy live usage, but I like it a lot. Small learning curve, so it's easy to go from "What the hell is this thing?" to having fun with it.

Several of my delay pedals have a loop option, which I’ve never even tried. I don’t use loops, because typically I, like, play with other people? ;-)

Well, I play with other people, too, which is why I love using them. I think people get stuck in the 'let me build a song from the ground up' style of looping with rhythmic loops playing backing patters with the loopist soloing over it. That gets boring to me, unless I am practicing at home. I generally use 2 un-synced loops underneath what the band is playing, filling out the sound. They are constantly changing, and don't line up with the band or each other (they are non-rhythmic) providing a bed of underneath.

I play with myself..but also play with others..

Nux Loop core ($99) does the trick for me....

Also bought an "Ammoon" stereo looper foe $60..very nice, but I blew that up using the wrong walwart (15V instead of 9V).

As always, it was just a joke.
