this is some of my playing

the top one was done like 15 min. ago with my charvel with the custom in it.
the others are of my les paul, before i put the DD in it.

so, tell me what you think of the tone on the first one. it's the only one that really matters. tell me if you think it's muddy, too bright, whatever.

    critique me!

pretty cool.. you do some pretty cool melodies on melodoc minor and some nice shredding on lp shred

The first one has a nice warm rythm tone. The lead guitar is a little fuzzy but it seems to work.

                      Re: critique my playing

If you were my guitar student, I would say: Good work! You're def. on your way ... my advice would be try writing your solos out in advance and make sure the phrases really flow from one another. Try different scale positions, and use different scales. Your tone is a bit 'trashy' for my taste, I would get the mic closer to the cab & roll off 300Hz and below to get rid of some of that muddiness. Be careful when you bend! Your bends aren't always to pitch! Work on your pinched harmonics!

Those are minor criticisms compared to the fact that you have talent, playing ability, and an OBVIOUS desire to play good music as well as play your instrument well. Only someone obssessed with getting better would post something for everyone to critique. My hat's off to you!
Why don't you take your little Cobra Kais and get outta here?!

                        Re: critique my playing

i guess your right twilight, the first one was just an improviatation of the A melodic minor. and the others are crap, i know.
im using a really cheap mic from wal mart, so that may be the reason for the crapp sound quality.
im gonna delete the other 3 ones and record some new ones that "should" sound better.

Good job on that Melodic Minor clip. I'm glad to see people haven't forgotten about that scale. Really nice arpeggiation with that too. You are surely on your way dude!
