  • Fender Big Dipper pickups

Newly designed Big Dipper single coil pickups were designed for John's modern tastes, which accentuate the bass and treble frequencies while softening the mid-range, offering the unique tones found in Mayer's playing
    with scooped mid-range voicing

How do u wind a pickup to have scooped midrange voicing please?

How did they get a pickup to have scooped midrange?

Just by eyeballin' them, I can tell you that they are very close to the stagger on my CS 57/62's and they appear to have alnico V poles.

They feel somewhat underwound as well.

They sound kind of flat and dead. Like I said, they kind of suck.

V poles? The pole pieces are shaped like a V? or the magnet it shaped like a V?

read the GP issue with mayer on the cover in it he does mention he likes WEAK Pickups -- so there ya go!
Those Dippers were based on the 6.5K Texas set so -- they're going to be lower the that..

                          Thanks Rev

but how they get that scooped mid-range out of a pickup?

Different Scattered windings produces different filter effects i heard

Rev how many different Scattered windings do u know ?
you told me that different fender ladies at the factor had different
scattered styles and patterns how many do u know?

Is there a Way u makes these pickups with different scattered patterns/windings/styles to buy from u ?

Nope i don't want to copy the scattered design that would be hard to do even if i had the pickups to reverse engineer it but i am curious to know the concepts on it or to have different scattered windings for each of my strats would be cool
