I think the reason my switchable extra tube gain stage mods didn't end up so thin was because partly they used phase inverter distortion, but also as I didn't put any 'bright' caps over the gain stage's 470k resistors (i guess they'd be the mixer resistors, or equivalent at least). The cathode in the extra gain stage just copied the first stage's cathode, ie 2.7k/.68uF.

Is this a "yes" or "no" question?

I can't get any of the picture links to work in this thread or also in the MetroAmp forum either. I'm a member over there also...

As an FYI, I actually had this mod performed to my amp by the man himself. I ended up having to sell the amp due to poor finances. But yes, it is Slash-in-a-box.

Does anyone have a layout for Caswell #39?

Lets not forget that Lynch used this #39 for Back for the Attack as well.

No, it was not used for the recording of the album. However, George did rent it for a tour.

Several amps were used on BFTA, but the main set up was Aspen Pittmans '71 Marshall superlead.

Why are we talking in this old thread?

Ahh, the tour. Ayrton, do you know what happened to the old George Lynch site where all albums and tours were amazingly documented gearwise ?

We are talking on this old thread because it was popped up by the poster behind me and because I have Turrets like affinity for posting in old modded marshalls threads.

Warren and Robin both used a JCM800 100 watter on Celler, and a Warren used a Fender Champ plugged into an Orange cab using EV speakers.

Later Warren did have some amps that were modded by Frank Levi.

Interesting note for you, Slash never recoded with Caswell's amp. The Caswell modded Marshall was a '71 1959T, and Slash fell in love with it during the AFD rehearsals.

The amp that was used to actually record AFD is the later Frank Levi modded amp.

                              Yo Ayrton,
Maybe you can clear up the whole thing with early Ratt and Laneys, AOR/Pro tubes where they live only ? was it AORs or just Pro-Tubes? Thanks dude.

From what I understand the Laneys were used live only for a period of time. I would have to do some digging to know what models and such.
