Re: 1/2 Grigsby 5-way wiring for T2b, neck pup
Hello there. Regarding maxing out a HB, I'd really grown accustomed to have any 4+ cond pup split with a on-on-on micro, yielding, from front (weak) to back (solo); parallel, single coil, series in addition to the pickup selector. I could have installed a micro on this Tele, but I knew what the T2b was capable of. (I inquired first at Seymour's about my wiring plan, and was met with disappointment. I hope they will use this "pioneer" diagram, if they have any inquires about wiring any 4-cond pups to get this combination of choices.) After seeing what Oak Grigsby's been doing with his Superswitch (nuts!), a first run with a half switch was initiated. I do not think the full double-wafer SS would even fit the Tele cavity. Even the 1/2 switch was grounding into the cavity shielding, and I added a split piece of plastic (outside of a guitar chord) to wrap the lugs and whatever could arc. No push-pulls so I didn't go into the vol, tone knobs section; it's a TELE! The idea to use the Tele 2-pup architecture, a Trad. neck pup and a 4-cond BR Watt-Hog (tm), hidden in a single-coil stack was an interesting option. S/D has more than a few. I blow right by ALL the Fender pup stuff (LOVE FENDER everything else!), and toggle directly to the S/D. The diagram should work with any S/D HB 4-cond pup stacked or whatever, following the wire color chart for S/D. Someone I read in a recent post said the color code was upside down for stacked coils. It is not for the T2b. I've installed some used S/D stacks; thought I was getting coil cut and got Parallel/Series. Should have gone with on-on-on, and got both!
