1 vol 1 tone 2 push pull pots question

Using this wiring, my tone pot only works as a volume pot. While looking around, I noticed that the same diagram using a toggle instead of a 3 way blade has a ground that this one doesn't. Should the lug in question be grounded on the diagram in question?

UPDATE: I wired my guitar exactly like the diagram and I was right, the diagram is wrong. The lug in question does need to be grounded.

Did you cover the legs of the capacitor on the tone pot? If the bare legs of the cap touch the back of the tone pot (or any other ground point or ground wire) when everything is packed in the guitar, it will become a second volume pot.

Tone cap is grounded to the top of the tone pot. That’s how a tone pot works. Rolls highs to ground.

Yeah, but if the input leg of the cap touches any ground before that you get a volume pot, which is exactly what you described happening.

Bump. Can you verify weather or not the diagram is wrong.

The phase reverse might need to be grounded. The quickest way to tell is if the bridge is not making sound when the pickups are not in series with each other and the pickup selector is on the bridge only

That’s what’s happening.

Try connecting the lug your arrow is pointing to to ground and see if that fixes it. Actually, if you have it partially apart, you can just touch a wire or metal tool across the lug to the back of the pot and see if sound starts coming out.

That was the trick! It’s gotta be grounded
