Picked this up today. I have my eye on for a long time, and I finally got the deal I wanted. It's an 85 Baretta with acustom paint scheme by Kline.
I have score an orignal neck to bring it back to stock.

Not my thing at all but $100 seems awesome. Congrats, dude. Enjoy it.

Lucky bastard. I would have been all over that myself. It's one of the ESP made models in the 86-88 timeframe. Pointy headstock, rosewood board, MOP dot inlays will do the trick to make it stock. Is the pickup a JB?

Needs a proper neck plate too. That is not the right neck plate for that time period.

I'd grab a bottle of vodka and slink off into the stockroom with it.

The next plate is correct, it's an 85. I just bought an orignal 85 neck for it. It was a very tough fine, but it will be back to stock soon.
The pickup is a Schaller, not a JB.

Yup, just found someplace where I could look up that graphic. The VK site's navigation is broken in Google Chrome so I had to use the google site search feature (or Firefox). That is a cool graphic. The official name is Heavy Metal Ghoul. The VK site shows it on a Vanguard.

Since it is a 1985 body, does the neck have an angled banana? I incorrectly stated a pointy (which is 1986 onward).

What concerns me on the neck plate is that it is narrower than normally seen on a Baretta. Baretta plates were wider than that.

That is a total score. Even if you didn't have an original neck it would still be awesome. Just goes to show that good deals are still out there if you know what to look for and are patient.

Be sure to post pics when you have it the way you want it. I'm not much on guitars with graphics, but I would like to have one.....one of these days. I'd steal yours if you were closer......

Re: $100 pawn shop score

That guitar hung in the shop for months. I would go in every once in a while and look at it. I thought it was a fake because of the neck, but when it turn out to be real I had to have it. There where asking $250, I pointed out the the head stock had been repair and it was there a long time, I offered $100 cash and they took it.
Sometime you can found a deal.
The neck should here some time this week, can't wait.

Re: $100 pawn shop score

In my opinion you got a SUPERB DEAL man!! ;-) Congratz!!!

It will undoubtably turn into one heck of a guitar when you get your new neck on it!!
I'd be damn happy about this deal if I was you Dave, but I just now somehow you are!

Thumbs up for your bargain man! ;-)
