15 watt vs 30 watt tube combo's

Doing some research I read that audibly, the 30 wouldn't be way louder than the 15. The 15 would break up a lot earlier, but listening to both out of a 1x12 speaker they would sound equally loud.

Is this true?

My 30 seems a lot louder than my 15. Go to a store that will let you turn them up and compare the clean headroom. It is hard to describe volume in words.

My 15 watt is equally as loud as my 30 watt both are single 12" combo amps. The 30 watt does have a little more clean headroom but not much. I think alot of it depends on the design of the amp, not all 15 and 30 watt amps are the same.

In basics your looking at about a 3db difference in volume, plus the better headroom in the 30w.

Class A or Class AB?

My Trace Elliot 15 watter Class A smokes my Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue 9 ways to Sunday volume-wise.

Hmm well essentially I'm trying to consider if trading my Classic 30 for a 15 watt combo will be worthwhile (my complaint is that the C30 has more power than I need). The other amps are Fender Blues Jr (not sure if this is A or AB), Crate Palomino V16 (Class A), and the Carvin Vintage 16 (doesnt really matter since it can be cut to 5 watts).
