I am told that changing your effects pedal adapter from 9 volts to 18 volts will give your pedals a better sound and more head room. Would anybody know if a Vox 847 can handle the 18 volts

Re: 18 volt effects pedal adapters

try it

sounds like a bad idea but i'm not sure what parts they used even though i have the same pedal

Re: 18 volt effects pedal adapters

Don't try it unless the manufacturer specifies that it supports it. As for an actual adaptor, I purchased a Dunlop 18v AC adaptor for my Pro Analog Dual Drive and it's great!

Re: 18 volt effects pedal adapters

most pedals are rated at 9V. I'd stick with the manufacturer suggested power supplies.

Re: 18 volt effects pedal adapters

It sounds like a good way to fry a pedal. Look at the specs listed in the manual or next to the AC input jack.

Re: 18 volt effects pedal adapters

This is what I found out. The old Ibanez AD80 is one of the best analog delay pedals part of the reason is its 12 volts the newer ones 9 volts. I did own a dunlop 535Q one of the first ones it was 18 volts it had a really nice sound. which by the way they do sell the 18 volt power supply.Go to Fulltones website this is where I got this from by the way his pedals are originally rated at 9 volts but he says he uses overated parts and his pedals can handle the 18 volts. I 'm just wondering if a vox 847 could if I had an 18 volt adapter I would try it and let everybody know.Which by the way I did Fulltones 847 true bybass mod and its excellent took 20 min.and $15.00 for their dpdt switch, well worth it.
