Got in some 1954 tele pickups for repair from my uncle! The bridge could not be saved with surgery unfortunately. So it needs a rewind... There was some solder that was dropped in the hole where the wax gets in and it melted the coil wires together. Both the start and end coils were gone also. Before I realized what the solder had done I had tried to save it by taking off the bottom flatwork like I did before. I got pics this time! But there were too many broken and loose wires... I could have spent days trying to find the start coil wire and still never find it. The coil for it is still intact though! Kinda cool to look at. The neck pickup is still good though! Just needed the solder joints to be reflowed. He wants new leads since the ones on it have been clipped. so I'm gonna change those over. I've got a question about that! Typically when I wind strat pickups the start wire is black and end is white... however the neck pickup has the white as the start and black as the end.... is this correct? The bridge pup had no leads so I can't tell... Google is useless since everthing I search for comes up with "vintage style" stuff... Any idea? Also got a real 53/54 bridge for my tele from him! Told him I was gonna buy a bridge for it and he gave me an extra one he had! I think it's needless to say but I'm seriously stoked!

Re: 1954 tele pickup repair.

Anybody have any idea about the leads situation?

Re: 1954 tele pickup repair.

Yes I've got a winder, I'm just not sure if the leads were hooked up correctly. Everything I've seen and wound has had black as the start lead and white as the end.

The Black wire will be on the Right eyelet which is the start ,If it's not the start on your winder wire it with the black anyway
