1956 Strat pickups - Brownie replica

Hi

I'm making a Brownie strat replica and am looking for traditional 1956 pickups to put in it.

I know most of the top makers can wind anything to a decent 1956 representation but wondered if anyone had any experience with the list below or any others that comes to mind?

Klein 1956 Epic Series
Peter Floorance ST56 Sweet Set
Fender 56 Pure vintage

Cheers

well i dont think the fender pure 56 is actually much like a real 1956 fender strat pup since the pure 56 uses alnico III magnets and the 1956 strat would have had alnico V. the klein has alnico V, not sure about florence.

Strat pickups seem to be pretty much the same until 1964 (except magnetic orientation, which does nothing soundwise). So a strat pickup spec'd A5 and high 5k to low 6k and hand wound (this is really important in my book) will do.

I have a set of Mojotone's 50's Custom Wound with flat pole pieces that are really, really sweet and supposed to be vintage correct.

Yep. In 65 when CBS took over, they started the more consistent machine winding and started using plain enamel coated wire instead of the formvar.
