Priorities are changing and it's time to let a few pieces go. This Les Paul Custom is a monster, tonally and aesthetically. This was the 375th guitar of production, born on August 5, 1982 in the Gibson plant in Nashville.
The guitar has normal wear for a 29 year old guitar. There is some light finish checking, some bumps here and there, and belt buckle worming on the back. There are no breaks or repairs of any kind. It has been played and loved. The binding has yellowed very nicely and the frets are original with plenty of life left.
The guitar came without the original pickups. It took me a while, but I located a beautiful set of uncovered 1983 Gibson Tim Shaw PAF's, installed a set of waxed and aged Gibson covers, extended the leads, and installed them. The end result was sonically beautiful and exactly what these guitars are meant to sounds like. Huge, rich, gorgeous, and commanding. I also swapped out the stock 300K pots for 500K pots - another huge improvement. I will include the stock pots as well as the stock control cavity shielding cover which I removed.
I believe that the bridge and tailpiece are newer on this guitar. It comes with the original speed winding tuners which are really neat. I wish I had them on every guitar! It comes with Schaller straplock buttons installed.
I'm not sure if the case is original, my guess is no but maybe you guys can help me with that. With that said, it's in OK shape and does its job.
$2000 shipped/PP'ed CONUS, no trades.
