1st try at Prog Rock

CTN

The Drama Dude
This is a demo, so there's no bass yet, and I don't even know if I'm going to add lyrics or not. Lotsa guitar layers, lotsa hammond/synth layers too.
Don't expect it to cause revolutions in the world of sound and society. It's just some cheeseball 70's style soundscapey prog rock. It's also almost 9 minutes long. :)

enjoy!

I enjoyed that very much; reminds me of several things but not really a copy of any of it. Looking forward to the finished version of this one!

Re: 1st try at Prog Rock

really?

I felt like I was blatantly ripping off Pink Floyd almost the whole way through :lmao:

thoroughly enjoyed it.

any musing of this sort if gonna have its share of resemblances. there are progger feelers and there are progger technicians. progeer feelers like me, i think feel well appreciated whenever we knocked into that space. this solidly did it for me. i think whenever ppl are into this, they should stop comparing and let the heart, space, and feel do the the thing. too much comparing spoils it mostly for the musicians for what is already right, and screws up things to come.

keep it goin bro

Seconded. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and added you on SC so I can listen again soon. I especially like what you did around the last minute or so -- epic ending! The change around 6:30 was also compelling. Like Koshikas, I could care less if it sounds like Gilmour -- it was groovy and spacy and held my attention the entire time, and that's what counts!

I hear that about the feel vs technique thing. I am definitely more about the feel and soundscape kinda prog than the technical prog. It's a big reason why I hate Dream Theater and am finding it difficult to appreciate Yes on any level.

Glad you dug it though man. Cheers!

awesome man, that whole section from the melody/harmonies, into the solo and through to the end - definitely my favourite part of the song. glad you liked it! And I'm gonna add you on SC too. :headbang:
