When I was rewiring my G&L, I found a 1uf cap in-line with the output jack. Any idea why someone put it there?

Depending on how it's wired it sounds like a reasonable value for a moderate bass cut.

On the signal side?
Almost seems like a DC blocking cap, but I’m not sure to what effect. Some sort of anti-shock capacitor would be on the ground side, I think.
What value cap and pot are used for the bass cut on the G&L?

It must be a DC blocking cap. You mean 1 uF and not .1?
1 uF would pass all of the low end with no trouble. Lots of effects circuits have 1 uF coupling caps at the output.
But it’s not going to stop you from getting a shock, since that would be through the ground, not the signal wire. I’d remove it.

As you can see, I already removed it. I'm 99% sure it was on the signal side, not the ground. What difference did removing it make? I'm not sure.
It was wired with a superswitch, and position 4 was some combo of maybe the neck and bridge, and the first knob was a phase or blend. The other two knobs were master volume and master tone. I put in a standard 5 way, master volume, separate tones for the neck and bridge.
