1x12 combo speaker recommendations help !?

I have an Laney LC50 - great workhorse amp.

Thinking of swapping out the speaker - Celestion V30 has done me proud but it doesnt soud "right" anymore. Very middy.

What would you guys recommend for a 1x12 combo? It needs to be a good all rounder that can cope with cleans, vintage breakup tones and classic od/distortion.

Everyone seems to rave about the Celestion G12-65. Anyone had experience with these.

Eminence do a decent range - but there's too many to choose from!!

Any pointers would be great.

Get a Celestion Gold and swap out one of the preamp tubes for a 12At7 and be done with it!!

Ive checked out the Celestion Gold - I note its a higher rated version of the Blue.

Unsure as to whether this will suit me - whenever somebody mentions alnico I can only think of that brian may "pushed" sound.

Anyone else used a Celestion Gold in a 1x12 combo??

Many of the "18 Watter" crowd like the G12H30, but that doesn't handle 50 watts. The Classic Lead is worth considering for a wider range, cleaner sound. I have a G12H80 (very similar to the Classic Lead) in my 18 Watter clone combo and love it.
