2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

Re: 2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

for a legit PAF thats a lot less than I have seen others go for

Re: 2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

You'd think he'd provide better photos at that price.

Still, if it's F-spaced I'll take it.

Re: 2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

is a 61 all that?? Ive seen them from 1959 LPs go for $5-7 thousand before.. Unreal...

Re: 2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

I notice he has ZERO bids on it thus far. I guess he's just waiting for the right fool to come along.

Re: 2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

Pffft

Or for $160 you could get duncan to wind you something that would fool anybody who listened to you into thinking you just bought a $5000 dollar pickup.

Re: 2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

im sure it would be a nice neck pup but for that i could have a custom guitar built and seymour wind me a set of pups

+1, how much does the custom shop usually charge if someone called them up and wanted a pair of custom wound pickups made for them?

Re: 2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

buckers are about $160+ each depending one what it is. single coils are $110-200 depending on what it is.

so if i called up the custom shop and wanted them to make me a pair of say like......Angus Young signature humbuckers or something, they would be around $160?

Re: 2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

By now, I think every luthier and Ma and Pa music store have gone through their junk boxes...a couple times. That is on the cheap side for a PAF...although I don't think the accountant/lawyer/developer guitar collector a**hats have as much $$$ to indulge their OCD these days.

Re: 2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

There's a sucker born every minute.

No. If somebody has a vintage guitar from that era worth $80K+ , putting in a pickup other than another from that period will greatly reduce the value...no matter how good it replicates the original.

I've seen vintage pickup rings go for hundreds of dollars.

Re: 2 grand for ONE PICKUP?!

Makes me wonder what the DC resistance for one of those pickups should really be. That one is 7.6K.

Years ago Seymour rewound an old paf for me and wound it to just over 8K.

From then on I assumed that the 59B at 8.1K was wound to vintage specs and the 59N wound to 7.4K was underwound.

I know those old pafs vary a lot and they were not intentionally calibrated for neck and bridge positions in the 50's and 60's - but that one's wound more like a 59N than a 59B.
