2 Pickups in Series for a Phatt Jazzy Neck Tone WITHOUT needing Tone Knob way down?

I have used a lot of wiring options - used to use a tech for them to maximize Tonal Options etc.

But never tried Neck and Middle in series or Neck Bridge in series.

Wondering if that can get a very dark deep neck tone - without muffling with tone knob really low .

Kind of adding lows to the tone rather than just killing the highs...

Anyone tried it ?

My favorite mod for my personal guitars is a series/parallel switch for two humbuckers. Switching to series boosts the bottom end and raises the volume a bit. It's definitely a fatter sound that doesn't lose the highs or get muddy. Produces a great tone for rock or metal players, especially in a power trio setting. Also great for jazz guys doing a solo or duo gig. Not recommended for country or funk players where guitar needs to cut through the sonic brush of an ensemble.

It would be darker and louder, but I don't think you would get a jazzy sound that way. Most jazz guitar sounds can be had with just a neck pickup with the volume rolled back a smidge and the tone back a bit more than that. There's no need to over-complicate things.
