2 piece vs 1 piece body dilemma

OK here's the situation: I bought a two piece korina LP body which i was planning on using for a project, but I've found a place selling one piece mahogany bodies....

Now, I'd like to go korina for a twist on the typical mahogany sound, but I'm worried that the fact that it's two piece will result in less sustain compared to the 1 piece mahogany.

So basically, it's construction vs tone... Does it matter if the body is two piece? As long as it's good quality wood, does it make very little difference? What should I do?

Also, if the wood has some burl marks in it, is that a sign of bad tonal properties?

o with the korina...I have not really head too much about 2 piece bodys having less tone that a one piece...I have a 1983 korina Moderne...that guitar has the best tone ever...I love the tone of korina, and I think you will too...

My buddies '57 strat is a two piece, and I've not heard ANYTHING but good tones coming from that guitar. I think that a two piece body will work very well for a solid body, as long as it's quality wood and it is joined with care.

2 piece will do great for tone. I rather have a 1 piece but there is nothing wrong with a 2. Alot of guitar manufactuers use alot more than 2 pieces and dont even use the same kind of wood.

Re: 2 piece vs 1 piece body dilemma

read somewhere that though 1-pc bodies are pretty to the eyes, they are less stable and more prone to warpage although i do not have the slightest clue how will that happen. 2-pc bodies are more stable and they don't differ much in tone as compared to their 1-pc counterparts.

Re: 2 piece vs 1 piece body dilemma

One piece bodies can be more unstable that is true. If the wood is kiln dried and taken care of it is not much to worry about though. Two piece bodys are very good. You are correct.

Re: 2 piece vs 1 piece body dilemma

1 piece bodies are not that common, most guitars are made of more than one piece, even expensive Les Pauls and the likes. I'd go with the Korina, better tone, nicer look (stained), and less common than mahogany.

My avatar is all one piece. I have 4 other blanks for projects that are all one piece also.
