2 Questions about pots and PUPs

On one of my guitars the pots are...hm. Static-y, when I roll around the volume. Would any sort of grease or lubricant like WD40 help this, or do the pots have to be completely replaced?

Second question is, is it normal for passive pick ups to not fit into an active cavity? The little mounts on my seymour duncans are a little too big. I was either gunna file or bend them.

A contact cleaner would clear them up. Radio Shack or an electronics supply shop should be able to set you up with some.

Please don't use WD40.

Oh and if your replacing actives with passives make sure you add a ground wire to the bridge.
