2 tones, no volume?

I just replaced the input and pots on my friends guitar, and now instead of 1 volume/1 tone, it has 2 tones. Could it be I just soldered a wire to a wrong prong on the pot? There was one I couldn't remember which it went to...

I think you just wired it wrong.

pickup to lug 1 of vol pot, tone cap out lug 2, jack out of lug 2- cap goes to lug 2 of tone pot. Lug 3 on both pots get grounded.
