2007 Gibson Les Paul Studio Premium Plus

Just found a steal of a deal on a Les Paul Studio Premium Plus. Much cheaper than what's on Reverb or Ebay... While I may flip it down the road, its my second time purchasing one of these models...

I'm going to use it for a short time or at least until the 2016 Gibson Studio 50's Tribute Gold Top comes out...

But I'm really curious... Gibson does not show the 2016's on their website, but they are on several online retailers...

What does the 50's rounded shape really mean? All of their current reissues list the 50's being a .9" at the first fret. Does that mean a 50's tribute will be thick like that too? Or will it be the thin 60's Slim Taper bullsh*t they build most of their guitars to?

Anyone know?

Oh, here's a pic of the guitar I just bought...

All of the 50s Tributes thus far have had 50s necks. Can't see any reason that would change.

The top's on the Premimum Plus models are stunning...

Here's a closer photo of thise one:

I think my first one looked better, but it was about $200 more used a couple years ago..

That's gorgeous! Congrats! The 50's neck profile is the good one. It is not the slim BS you speak of.

Hmm, I'm thinking about changing the plastic to black... thoughts?

I like the off white. It sets it off.
The 50s neck is a 12" radius and the 60s slim taper is a 13" radius.
Width wise I can't tell a lot of difference but the 50's is more rounded and you definately feel more of it in your hand.
My Les Pauls are all slim taper 60s. I just like that neck. I don't have huge hands so it fits me well.
I play them both though and have no issues with the 50s.

That is a beautiful studio! I love the top and the natural finish.

I've got small hands and like the chunkier neck anyway. I've been watching the 2016's roll in on the online sites. Back to reasonable prices on those 2016 Tributes and Satin Studios. From what I'm seeing, it looks like they are all chambered though. Not unexpected but ... bummer anyway. Completely a personal preference thing.

My Sweetwater "Engineer" called today because I was asking about the new 50's Tributes... They claim early 50's rounded profile... But what exactly does that mean??? I'm waiting for a call back on the measurement at the 1st fret. Is it above .9" like they were in the 50's or just a hair above .0800" like most of them.
