Long tenon, modern weight relief, Burst Bucker Pros, Tone Pro's locking TP & bridge, Rosewood FB, locking Grovers, Asymmetrical neck carve, push pull pots.

What'd you change the pickups to?

It came with A5 Burst Bucker Pro's which are excellent in this guitar and i don't like too many Gibson pups. The cream humbuckers are DiMarzio 36th Anniversaries which are also A5's and excellent. This guitar has the plug-in pickups without having to solder which in the past ive not been a fan of but must say makes pup swaps alot easier.
And the push pull pots have their place too. Extremely versatile with many different tone options.
One downside of the plug-ins is if you buy pups that aren't wired for that the wire adapters are like $35 bucks & its a little tedious to solder 5 small wire ends but not real bad.

that's a really really pretty guitar -I wouldn't play that live because I only play gigger guitars -don't have any museum/show type stuff -but damn it's sweet.

Same. I've had a few Gibsons from the cheapest Jrs and Specials through to the top Custom Shop models, and the only ones I've kept are the cheap ones. I end up babying the nice ones too much to justify keeping them; they may as well go to someone who'll actually play 'em. Taking a guitar like that out on stage is my nightmare, I'd rather use an Epiphone or Squier than risk something nice taking a knock.

Depending on the venue i show up to gigs with my Orville or Tokai LP's before my Gibson if im not familiar.
Same with band auditions i bring the "B" rig before showing up wit $30K of gear.
Never know these days.
Im almost 60, not my first rodeo.

I think I have about 35 guitars -and everyone has a ding or a scratch on it.... lol. I think that AAAA beauty he posted would scare me.... lol.

I'm not a collector in that sense -I get the tools for playing and recording and use them heavily.

My camping guitar was a $2k acoustic. -why? because I wanted a tone our in nature that stirred my sole -and that was the one.
20 years later it looks well on its way to Willie Nelson's trigger and instead of appreciating in value its declines dramatically.

I bought a 5k GIbson Custom Shop in the 90s and returned in out of guilt for what I was about to do to it.

F*ck it -don't waste heartbeats!!! get out and live.

but I really appreciate the artistry in that guitar... love it.

It scares me too im terrified to get a ding on it lol. Its likely the most perfect guitar ive ever played or owned in 40 yrs but i do take care of my stuff. Im like that with everything clothes/socks/shoes. I keep my new stuff new & old stuff old.
But last band i was in earlier this year once i started playing this Les Paul it was effortless & sounded so good just kept playing it.

Any idea what % of guitars are made available by Gibson with AAAA tops?

Curious.

What i heard was in August 2011 Gibson factory was raided by US Fish & Game and they had a hard time getting rosewood & sales were way down so to spur sales & compensate they added AAAA figured tops to some LP Standards.

I don't know all the details but thats what i heard.
I haven't really seen many AAAA Premium Plus tops since then either but lots of AA & AAA.
