2014 LP Standard Premium Quilt tops

If I were going to ever buy a LP this would be it.

Not sure on price but i'm guessing it cost less then a PRS single cut with the same type of top. Too bad I won't buy a Gibson because of the knob placement if they would just move at least one of the vol pots closer to the bridge then i'd be all over it.

Hmmm I dunno, I've never thought that quilt tops look good on LP-shapes for some reason. They tried this with the custom shop Class 5 years ago, can't remember if it was much of a success though...

Well maybe i'm just odd in that I like the look of highly figured quilted maple better than flame maple. Plus you don't really see that many LPs with quilted tops so it's different and that might be part of why I like em too. I'm not sure though if I would rather choose a PRS SC with the same top since I prefer that control layout.

guess Im a kook..(yeah, my family will confirm) but I love flame and quilt! Id surrender my nads to have a quilt topped blue class 5!

Gibson's website says most of the 2014 models are using graph-tech nuts and tone pros bridge and tail pieces. Finally gibson gets smart and stops trying to make their own crappy materials work lol

The 2014 Traditionals are supposed to have new "59 tribute humbuckers." Im guessing they're revamped burstbuckers

I noticed that too. I thought the Corian (or whatever it is) nuts were supposed to be pretty good..?? Tone Pros is def a good thing IMO. My "2008" model came with Tone Pros bridge and tail piece.

I love quilt maple, but my 2 problems here:

- The finish and quilt maple look horribly mismatched to me. Quilt maple looks best with contrasting dyes IMO.
- I have a dislike for the "perfect" bookmatched tops that to a certain extent lose the "wow" factor. It looks uninteresting when it is so consistent and uniform. That also goes with flame maple.

Big question does the 2014 Standard come with real wiring or are they still using the circuit boards?
