Re: 2016 vs 2017 lp standard
there is little change between the two, slight differances. You can get a 2016 LP stand T for $2200 right now several places(Zzzounds/ams/sweetwater, is tax free in most states, GS/MF charge tax) I have a 2016 and it's a really nice guitar, have a hard time hearing the tonal differances in the coil tapping/phase options, but otherwise plays nice. If I can afford a Gibson Custom or true historic and willing to pay 2-3 times the price I WOULD, but it's a bit overkill. Avoid the M2/S Series guitars they're ****. I'm seriously looking into a PRS 594, Really awesome guitar. I would start off buying a Les Paul Tribute 2017 T ($899) first then saving up for something higher end. It took me 9 months to find the right top and look for my guitar(I had to send two back). Remember for more than $2000 your paying for looks, the name and doodads rather than what the guitar can actually do and sound like. also if you get a chance to actually play them, play all you can get your hands on as Each guitar is unique, play them totally clean, in crunch and distorted sounds as you can tell what the pickups voices are, some pickups sound good clean but are muddy distorted, and the opposite too. and inspect your final choices hard for any blemishes(sometimes it's a good thing, can get a discount for it)
