Anyone ever do this?
I'm sure I've talked about this guitar I'm building. Ultimately it is going to have an HS configuration with the single being in the neck. I plan on using a Virtual Solo or Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2 in the neck. I'm just gonna have two volumes and a 3-way toggle so it will be a little more present and open sounding.
What I'm thinking is having a toggle switch for the neck single so that it runs in 500K and sounds pretty much like a single coil, the Virtual Solo is a warm single so running it without a tone pot and a 500K volume it will prolly be jangly and if I want it to be fatter I can flip the switch which will put a 470K resistor parallel with the signal to ground which will make it like a 250K.
Would this even be worth a shot or would it be too minuscule to notice? To all those who want to say hey just use a tone pot, no. I hate using a tone pot for neck pickups. It just gets all flubby and way bassy. I'm not into the "woman tone". But yea any input would be great. Just wondering if this idea is worth it.
