2553 Marshall Jubilee on Ebay UK (It's not mine!)

Re: 2553 Marshall Jubilee on Ebay UK (It's not mine!)

That's about $400 US, right Simon? If it stays below $700 US it will be a really decent deal. Perhaps you should just buy it and ship it to me?

How much would shipping be to florida? I've never played one but two of my favorite guitar players use them, slash and rich robinson. I've actually got like $700 so I could get that and sell my amp.....simon, what kind of 60's/70's rock tones can you dial in on that? How does it compare tonally to a dsl100 head which is the closest thing I've tried to it. And don't these amps normally go for a whole lot more than that?

I've no idea how much shipping to Florida would be, but you could try asking the seller, as he does mention "worldwide" shipping!

I've used my 2553 for playing all kinds of rock music from the 60s through to contemporary. Compared with a lot of modern amps the Jubilees aren't especially versatile, but then Marshalls never have been. The best way to play them is to work the power tubes and use your guitar knobs to vary your distortion and tone. You can easily do, Zeppelin, AC/DC, Lizzy and (obviously) GnR. I've been able to do that kind of stuff plus Blondie and Van Morrison all in the same set without having to redial the amp.

I've never played a DSL100, so it wouldn't be fair for me to make a comparison with the Jubilee. I hear the DSLs are excellent.

Yes, these amps normally go for a lot more. I paid £620 for my 2553 head and 2556B cab two years ago, and I thought I got a bargain! I recently saw a 2553 head go for over £800 on Ebay UK. Things seem to be quiet at the moment - I've noticed quite a bit of gear going for low prices or not selling at all.

Just noticed it's a private auction. Bidders' identities will not be disclosed. What's that all about? :boggled:

I noticed how many highend pieces of gear AREN'T going for top dollar lately, too.
I think the late 90's just saturated the market with good stuff, and now it's worth has gone down. Bad for manufacturers, but great for us!....if you got the money.
You should just win that auction, especially if the price doesn't rise. It's better than money in the bank, if it's a clean one.
