25W Mesa Boogie Recto !

Re: 25W Mesa Boogie Recto !

These are really cool and all but in all honesty, while I can see the point of lower wattage rectos, the prices of used "real" ones (especially the single rectos) still makes those a better deal than the low-wattage ones.
I know the power scaling is cool and all but for a few (actually many) bucks less, I got a rectoverb with bigger trannies, 6L6s, that can achieve higher volumes if needed (while the master volume still makes them practical for home-use) so there's no compromise... At least in my opinion/ears/experience.

There's the portability factor of course and some folks do like el84s better, just not me.

HELLO . . . this looks sweet !

Am i late again ?

How new is this amp ?

Can a set of EL-84's give us true RECTO tones ?

What do you guys think ?

I think it's been out for about 6 monthes or so now. It's actually a mini rectifier (mini been out since 2011) in a headshell with spring reverb. It definately has the rectifier character but the el84s give off a different flavor than what most recto people are used to hearing. I like the midrange presence of the EL84s as it seems like it cuts through
better.

Re: 25W Mesa Boogie Recto !

I think they are pretty cool! I'm surprised at how versatile they are. I'm a Mark Series guy, not a Recto user, but I was impressed with the Mini head and now the Mini Reverb combo. This amp makes a lot of sense in Mesa's line and I think they did a great job. It is certainly gig-worthy. I'd like to try the combo with a Mesa 112 Theile cab under it--it should be a potent little quarter stack--the combo alone is LOUD!

The choice would really come down to the TA-30, the Mini Rect-O-Verb, or the Express 5:25+. Three really different flavors of amps. I think I would favor the 5:25+, but I suspect I could live with any of them and be pretty darn happy.
